BONUSES AND REWARDS

Sign-On Bonus

As a new employee, once you complete your probationary period of 90 days, you are eligible to receive a one time Sign-On Bonus of $100.  This will automatically be added to the next  pay after your 90 days is completed.

Referral Bonus

If you refer a new driver to Tristar, you will receive a $500 bonus as soon as they have worked here for six months.  Relatives and friends are welcome and there is no limit to the number of recruiting bonuses you may receive. Contact vfrazier@tristarcolumbus.com

Paid Time Off Incentive (part-time drivers)

Part-time drivers can earn up to 4 hours of paid time off quarterly  If the following qualifications are met:

  • No unexcused absences for that quarter(3 months)

  • No Missed service appointment / Oil changes are completed within 1000 miles of due date.

  • No safety violations

  • No missed pick ups

  • Must be active (not on Leave) for full quarter

Drivers may roll over up to 12 hours of PTO per calendar year.  All roll over PTO must be used in the first quarter of the following year.  Earned PTO can be taken if it is pre-scheduled and approved by emailing the Driver Success Manager fdoughty@tristarcolumbus.com or it can be requested as a pay out on a regularly scheduled pay date.  To request PTO to be added to your check you must email payroll@tristarcolumbus.com

Try Star Award

This award is to recognize drivers who receive praise or positive feedback from parents or staff - or get caught practicing safe driving or going above and beyond in general. It includes a gift card, a certificate, a social media post Tristar Times appearance and a spot in our TV rolling video.

Driver of the Month Program

Each month beginning September 1, 2025 a new Driver of the Month will be selected.  The selections are based on:

  • Names taken from the list of the top 100% performers

  • Safety metrics, speed, seat belt, mobile usage and stops, etc.

  • Operational metrics, attendance, service adherence, performance, etc.

The recipient will receive an acrylic plaque, a certificate of recognition and $50.00 Kroger gift card, as well as have his/her picture displayed in THE Driver Depot.

Safe Driver Award Program

The Safe Driver Award Program is tailored to recognize and award the best of the best drivers. To qualify for a Safe Driver Award, drivers must meet the following criteria.

  • No moving violations for a 2-year period, Tristar or personal car

  • No at-fault accidents for a 2-year period

  • No justifiable complaint calls from other motorists

  • A grade of A on the last observation report

  • No driving infractions discovered during routine or specific camera checks.       

       Award:  Drivers meeting the above criteria will receive a special award designating them as a Safe Driver from the National Safety Council.

Driver of the Year Program

Drivers who achieve the Safe Driver Award status will qualify to be considered for Driver of the Year.  In addition to meeting the above criteria, our office staff will vote for one person who satisfies the following additional criteria:

  • Cooperative with Tristar staff in all areas of route coordination

  • No complaints from other Tristar drivers or school staff at pick-up / drop-off locations

  • Keeps the Tristar car clean and meets service intervals

  • Maintains a good record of timely pickups and drop offs

Award: $300.00 plus an acrylic plaque, a certificate, a social media post, Tristar Times appearance and a spot in our TV rolling video.
